What is TOFU?
TOFU is made from soybeans, water and a coagulant or curdling agent. It can be an alternative delicious meat dish. It is very high in protein and calcium. If you layer it with spices and marinades, it will turn out to be a delicious and nutritious food.
Asian cuisines for hundred years have used TOFU as their staple and comfort food. Only recently the Western vegetarian cooking started to notice how delicious this can be.
How many kinds are TOFU?
There are two main kinds of Tofu:
Firm Tofu: good for frying or pepes(using banana leaves and grill it)
Soft Tofu: good for stir fry or soup
Here is Davina’s recipe Grill Tofu
Two packs of 14 oz Firm Tofu
3 pieces of garlic
3 red chillies or more if you want it spicy
2 tsp sugar
2 tsp of salt
Banana leaves (frozen is available at Asian grocery store in the freezer)
Mix all the ingredient up in food processor with the Tofu
Then add thinly sliced lemongrass (the white part)
Wrap it with the banana leaves and then with aluminium foil
Put in the charcoal grill or in the oven 350 degree
After about for 10-15 minutes each sides take it out
Open the leaves wrap and aluminium wrap
Ready to be served
